In recent years it has become apparent that fibre-optics are steadily replacing copper wire as an appropriate means of communication signal transmission. They span the long distances between local phone systems as well as providing the backbone for many network systems.

A fibre-optic system is similar to the copper wire system that fibre-optics is replacing. The difference is that fibre-optics use light pulses to transmit information down fibre lines instead of using electronic pulses to transmit information down copper lines.

Fibre is particularly useful when linking buildings together to share network communications and can be installed in much greater lengths than copper wire.

Eiicon can supply multimode OM1 62.5/125, OM2 50/125, OM3 50/125 4 to 24 cores for standard LAN configurations up to 300 Mtrs. Singlemode OS1 9/125 4 to 24 cores for long distance connections up to 70 km. Connector types SC ST and LC are supported.
